1967 Epiphone Riviera Sparkling Burgundy

1967 Epiphone Riviera Sparkling Burgundy

"Epiphone E360T Riviera: an exciting new Spanish electric guitar with double cutaway construction and two humbucking pickups. One piece Mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod joins the body at the 22nd fret. Rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, parallelogram pearloid inlays. Adjustable tune-o-matic bridge with bone inserts (clearly the copy writers didn't know that they were Nylon, not bone!). Three position toggle switch to activate either or both pickups. Separate tone and volume controls which can be preset for both humbuck pickups (again with the strange copy). Frequesator tailpiece. White composite celluloid pickguard. Inlaid peghead. Heavy duty gear pegs (who hired these guys??), Nickel-plated metal parts." -- 1962 Epiphone full line catalog

Make and Model: Epiphone E360T Riviera (Epiphone counterpart to the Gibson ES-335)

Year: 1967. Serial 102xxx, witch hat knobs, skinny nut width, chrome parts, potentiometer codes indicating the 28th week of 1967.

Specifications: Thinline arcthop with solid center Maple block and hollow wings, 24 3/4" scale length neck, two mini-humbucking pickups, factory Sparkling Burgundy finish, factory Epiphone Tremotone vibrato tailpiece, 1 9/16" nut width, .82" neck depth at the first fret, .99" depth at the 12th fret, 8 lbs 11oz.

Originality: 100%! This one is clean and unmodified from original.

Playability: 100%! This is a monster player. The neck and frets are perfect with no issues to report. There isn't any observable fretwear.

Flaws: one finish reaction with the case on the neck rest area on the back of the neck, one deep scratch under the tailpiece area.

Notes: The condition of this rare beauty is unreal! I was thrilled to find a super well preserved Riviera but even more stoked to find one in original Sparkling Burgundy finish. Whoever originally owned this one didn't spend much time playing it all which is a real shame. The Epiphone Tremotone vibrato is really stable but also also for a nice smooth vibrato action. It's there when you need it but doesn't knock the guitar out of tune. I'm confident you'll love this super nicely preserved 1967 Epiphone Riviera made in Kalamazoo, Michigan!
